Where Nature, Curiosity, and Science meet. Glow Organics International was not born in a laboratory. t began with a question. A question that followed me across South Africa's diverse landscapes, climates, and communities:
Why does skin thrive in some environments and struggle in others? Growing up on the lush, humid South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, skincare was never something I gave much thought to. The air was rich with moisture, nature was abundant, and healthy skin seemed to require very little intervention. That changed when I moved to Cape Town. The dry climate and harsh environmental conditions affected my sensitive skin in ways I had never experienced before. Like many people searching for answers, I found myself navigating an overwhelming world of products, promises, and ingredient lists. Despite the abundance of options, I was left with more questions than solutions.
My search for understanding began during my university years. I immersed myself in research, studying ingredients, traditional remedies, skin physiology, and the science behind how our skin interacts with the environment around us. Later, life took me to the Karoo, where the intensity of the sun and the realities of living in a semi-arid environment deepened my interest even further. In communities around Oudtshoorn, I met people whose lives had been profoundly affected by years of environmental exposure. Their stories reinforced something I had already begun to suspect: Our skin is not separate from nature. It responds to climate, nutrition, stress, sunlight, hydration, and the ingredients we choose to use every day.
What began as a personal search soon became a lifelong passion.
During this period, I found inspiration in unexpected places. Ancient texts, historical writings, traditional apothecary practices, botanical medicine, and centuries of accumulated knowledge offered a different perspective on health and wellbeing. They revealed a recurring theme: balance. The balance between nature and science. The balance between tradition and innovation. The balance between what has been known for generations and what modern research continues to uncover. This realization sparked a deep fascination with botanical formulation. I began studying medicinal plants, collecting historical reference books, researching traditional preparations, and building a personal library filled with natural remedy literature, botanical encyclopedias, and formulation resources.
